Hassua, että lähes kaikki vanhemmat opettavat pikkulapsilleen koirien olevan hauvoja. ”Joo, siinä menee hauva.” Huvittavaa se on siksi, että koirat muuttuvat hauvoiksi vain puhuttaessa lasten kanssa, harvemmin nimittäin kuulee kahden aikuisen puhuvan keskenään hauvoista.

Jos koirasta haluaa jotain ”lempinimeä” käyttää, niin onhan se hauva hieman kuvaavampi kuin esimerkiksi halli. Lapselle voisi tulla jonkinnäköinen väärinkäsitys, jos äiti sanoisi, että ”Katsopas miten kiva halli!”.
